Educational Objectives: At the completion of this symposium the participants should be able to:
- Recount some of the considerations and recommendations that help to create patient-oriented collaborations across EMS agencies, public safety teams and various EMS receiving facilities.
- Recite some of the community programs that can improve lifesaving in both cardiac and traumatic events. Describe the new orientation on intracranial pressure management to save lives and improve neurological outcomes in patients with cardiac arrest.
- Comprehend the problems of confounding variables that affect study outcomes and, in turn, mislead practice protocols.
- Detail some of the evolving considerations in active assailant events that have changed our thoughts about triage and collaborations and preparations shared by EMS and in-hospital personnel.
- Describe several evolving strategies for efficiently managing cardiac arrest, stroke, and STEMI patients in a choreographed team approach.
- Relate some of the priorities for EMS systems provided by thought leaders in EMS from across the nation.
